HGA Secretary’s Report To Committee Meeting 03/12/13
Following our meetings on 03/09/13 + 04/10/13:
A) I have submitted plans from J.Hallissey Plot 8, C.Taylor Plot 9, P.Jones Plot 10, Isobel Plot 5, A.Bradley Plot 36. All had been discussed amongst the committee and had our approval.
CWAC telephoned to acknowledge receipt of them but no further comment received.
The response time has elapsed so we can take it that they also have no objection.
B) I have forwarded copies of our minutes to CWAC and also, posted copies on the site notice board and the association website (you can find this online by typing in http://www.hgachester.weebly.com).
Following our recent site survey, 2 weed notices were issued of which copies were sent to CWAC.
C) Wrote to J.C. Clark regarding use of some waste land (as discussed in an earlier meeting). They responded quickly by telephone and agreed to forward our letter to their directors.
On 31/10/13 Mr. C. Iver (Associate Director) telephoned and asked me to meet him at the Blacon Office. I met him there at 10.30am and we discussed proposals to grow flowers and border plants for our charity events.
He said he would forward our ideas to their estates and legal teams, if they were in agreement then he will get them to draw up an annual rolling contract for us.
It was agreed we would not erect any building or signage but a 1m fence would be allowed providing it was of a neat and tidy appearance and erected at our own cost. We would be responsible for keeping hedges cut the site neat and tidy and keeping ornamental beds stocked and maintained. They will buy the plants etc. from us.
We need to discuss this further amongst ourselves. I feel this may be a good community project, which would respect the security of our site, whilst helping ourselves and local charities. It may also be seen favourably when we are applying for funding.
D) Community Building: I have downloaded various application forms. Various steps need to be done before they filled in, which we need to discuss. I have included them in the agenda for today’s meeting.
E) Seed Orders: These have been collated and sent off, acc. prepared and given to Alan Bradley (Treasurer) along with all monies collected. The seeds have arrived and been distributed.
F) In August I renewed our HGA membership to the National Allotment Society.
We also joined the newly formed West Cheshire Allotment Federation.
G) In October I received 2 isssues of the NSALG magazine which are available on site.
They also sent a 2 page letter re: NSALG AGM and conference on June 7th 2014.
I have given Paul Jones 2 copies, to be given out amongst yourselves and a copy to be posted on the site notice board. A copy is also available on our website (see above for details).
H) Most recently I prepared and delivered the ballot papers as requested at our last meeting.
I also included the latest info sheet fromNSALG.
I) Myself and Paul have been attending meetings of the West Cheshire Allotment Federation. All minutes have been posted on our boards and website.
The Federation also have a website which may be useful to view and help in avoiding confusing and conflicting information: (http://www.westcheshireallotmentfederation.com)
